I spent Spring Festival in Shanxi this year. I really had a very good time there.
Shanxi is in the northern part of our country. It seems to be a white world in winter. People in Shanxi think Spring Festival is the most important .Several days before the Chinese New Year, they clean out their houses and put up“New Year scrolls” on the doors, while the most important thing is to put up the red lanterns. This means they will be prosperous in the coming new year. On New Year’s Eve, everyone must eat jiaozi. During the dinner they eat and chat. And then they watch CCTV New Year programmes late into the night. They wont go to sleep until 24:00.
On the first day of the New Year, they just stay at home. On the second and third days, they go to visit their friends and relatives with some nice gifts. Elder generations will give the children some money. What the children get is not just the money itself, but the true love and warm wishes from their elder generations.
I also went to a friend of my mother’s .She lives in the mountain village. She has three children. They live a hard life. But they look very happy. Though they don’t have much money to buy something nice, the New Year gives them new hope. That’s enough for them.
How time flies! Now I’m in Haimen. But when I miss those days in a white northern city Shanxi, I still can’t stop saying to myself:“I’m lucky and happy enough. As a Grade 3 student now, I must try my best. ”And when I grow up, I want to make our country even richer and stronger.
I hope everyone’s dream life will come true in 2006.Best wishes to DZMS, to our dear teachers and classmates.
