The role of water 水的作用
Water is very important to us. If you don’t have water for three days, you will die. We can use water for flowers, swimming, washing and many different things. We use it to cook, make electricity, and put out fires and so on. We use millions of liters of water every day.
Do you know how does the water come to your home? It travels through water pipes. Some are long and wide but some are short and narrow. Then the water travels through the water pipes to the reservoirs. Then it travels through the water pipes to the river and to the special factories that purify the water. When the water is purified, we can drink it. Please don’t leave garbage in the water on which we line, and keep the water clean.
水对我们很重要。如果你三天没有水，你会死的。我们可以用水浇花，游泳，洗涤和许多不同的东西。我们用它做饭，发电，和扑灭火灾等。我们每天都使用数百万公升的水。
你知道水是如何来到您的家吗？它穿过水管。有些是长和宽但有些短而窄。然后水通过水管的水库。然后穿过水管的河流和特别的工厂的净化水。当水净化后，我们就可以喝。请不要把垃圾丢进水里，并保持水的干净。
the ways to educate 教育的方式
A debate heated up recently, thanks to Amy Chua’s book about a Chinese “tiger mother”. In her latest book entitled “The Battle Hymn of a Tiger Mother”, Amy describes how she adopt s traditional Chinese methods to educate her children, which is considered by many westerners to be too hard and inhuman.
One of the issues being discussed after the book was published is whether early education should focus on children’s happiness. Those supporting the idea argue that early education is intended to help children grow up in a cheerful atmosph ere and inspire them to better themselves in an all-round way. Therefore we should allow children to enjoy the happiness which can only be found during their childhood. On the contrary, people holding the opposite view insist that since in reality life is full of happiness and pain, children should be well prepared for that even during childhood. Otherwise, they would find it hard to adapt to life in the future.
In my opinion, just as Confucius said, education methods should be adopted based on inpidual personalities. Moreover, educators should respect children as independent human beings.
最近的争论升温,多亏了蔡美儿的书关于中国“虎妈”。在她的新书〈虎妈的战歌〉，艾米描述她是如何采用中国传统的方法来教育她的孩子,这是许多西方人认为过于苛刻和不人道。
正在讨论的问题之一是这本书出版后早期教育是否应该关注孩子们的幸福。那些支持这个想法认为早期教育的目的是帮助孩子成长在一个快乐的全方面的'环境和激励他们更好的自己。因此我们应该让孩子们享受的幸福只能发现在他们的童年。相反,人们持有相反的观点坚持认为,因为在现实生活中充满了快乐和痛苦,孩子们应该好好准备,即使在童年。否则,他们会发现很难适应未来的生活。
在我看来,正如孔子所说,教育方法应采用基于个性。此外,教师应该尊重孩子作为独立的人。

Reading Reading is important for Americans. More and more people are joining book clubs which are formed by different people or organizations and for specific groups of readers. Book clubs are really good things. Reading the same book and sharing what we think of it can help us know more. Reading is also my favorite activity. My favorite novel is Gone with the Wind. It tells us a story about a woman, Scarlet, who is very brave and goes through a lot of difficulties but still faces life with courage. I always remember a famous sentence in this book “Tomorrow is another day.” This book encourages me to be brave. Whenever I am in trouble I will think of this sentence. Personally, I think reading can really bring us benefits.It can enlarge our knowledge and make us more intelligent. Besides, it is helpful for our learning, especially for writing good compositions.
阅读对美国人来说很重要。越来越多的人加入了由不同的人或组织组成的书俱乐部，并针对特定的读者群体。读书俱乐部真是好东西。读同一本书，分享我们所认为的东西，可以帮助我们知道更多的东西。读书也是我最喜欢的活动。我最喜欢的小说是随风飘去的。它告诉我们关于一个女人，朱红色，谁是非常勇敢和经历了很多困难，但仍面临生命的勇气的故事。我总是记得这本书中的一句名言“明天又是另一天”这本书鼓励我勇敢。每当我遇到麻烦，我都会想起这句话。我认为读书能给我们带来好处，它可以扩大我们的知识，使我们更聪明。此外，它有助于我们学习，特别是对写作好的作文。

Everybody knows that there is serious problem of water pollution on the earth. Yes, water pollution is increasing.
Look! The water in the river is getting dirtier and dirtier. Most of fish in the water have died, and we can’t swim in the water.
My grandfather says, when he was very little, the water in the river was very clean. He often swam in the river with his friends.
That was before, but now we can’t see such clean rivers. Let’s protect the water from pollution, because we can’t live without water. The water is really important to us all.
大家都知道，在水污染严重的问题。是的，水污染加剧。
看！河水变得越来越脏。水里的游鱼大部分已经死了，我们不能在水里游泳。
我的祖父说，当他很小的时候，河里的水很干净。他经常和朋友一起在河里游泳。

June 3, Friday Fine On my way home on the bus, I saw an old man get on with his grandson of about ten. He was carrying the boy’s schoolbag and violin. I gave my seat to the old man at once. However, the boy sat down first. The old man had to stand nearby. After a while, the boy shouted to his grandpa for water and then dropped the empty bottle on the bus. When I saw this, I got very angry. I think the boy should not only respect and take care of the old man but also keep the environment clean.
六月三日，星期五，我在公交车上回家的路上，我看到一个老人和他的孙子约十。他背着孩子的书包和小提琴。我立刻给老人坐了座位。然而，男孩坐了下来。那老人不得不站在附近。过了一会儿，男孩向他爷爷喊了一个水，然后把空瓶子扔在车上。当我看到这个，我很生气。我认为这个男孩应该不仅尊重和照顾老人，而且还保持环境清洁。
