People still like the festival. Because most people can have a long holiday，and we are free to go on a trip or visit our friends or have parties with our family. In the evenings，we can have a big meal in the restaurant or stay at home with family and watch the TV programmes.

三年级上学期，我刚开始学英语，开始觉得英语非常难，总是听不懂，背单词背不过，所以总因为英语挨骂，后来经过我的不断努力，我终于战胜了英语！
正是因为学得不好，所以刚开始我非常非常讨厌英语，可又不愿意让爸爸妈妈伤心，因为他们都是翻译学院毕业的，英语都很棒。爸爸妈妈一直想让我学好英语，于是教导我：“要想学好英语其实没有捷径，只要每天多听几遍、多读几遍、英语单词多抄几遍。”
我照妈妈的方法坚持了一个星期，每天早上听、读，每天晚上默写、背诵。过了三个月，我发现每个英语单词都是那样得熟悉和可爱。果然，我的英语成绩猛涨，老师也非常惊讶，问我怎么成绩涨得这么快呢？
从此，原来在我眼里非常难的“外星语”已经成了我的口语。三年级下学期英语期中考试，我竟考了100分！至今我的英语成绩下不了90分，爸爸妈妈为我的英语成绩而骄傲。

午休的时候，我正在津津有味的.看书，有位老师走进教室说：“请报上英语班的同学去报告厅集合。”哎呀！我都快忘了英语选拔这件事儿了！我那小小的心脏顿时紧张得像岩浆漫延开来。我和几个同学一起来到了报告厅，只见两个老外在向我们招手哩！接着老外开始和我们挨个的用英语交流，看着前面同学有顺利过关的，我也跟着一起开心，而没有通过的同学垂头丧气，我莫名的心里直打鼓。
终于轮到我了，给我测试的外国老师是位黑人，很热情开朗，他用英语简单的和我对话交流，刚开始我因为有些小紧张，没听清老师说的英文意思，没想到老师竟然用中文告诉我，我马上流利的回答，接下来我都能非常自然的和外国老师对话交谈，我发现淘汰赛其实并没有想像的那么恐怖呀！测试结束，在焦急的等待中，结果终于出来了！如我所愿，我真的被选上啦！我好兴奋哦！
这次英语选拔赛对我来说真是一件很有意义的事，妈妈常说，机会是给有准备的人，我觉得在这次选拔赛中真的用到了，以后我会更用心的学习英语！
