Finally ushered in the New Year, my long-awaited, in the morning, I'm still lying in bed, the firecrackers outside already rise one after another, as if in the rush me: children, hurry up, with the coming of the New Year, don't be a pussy cat! So I got up immediately and put on my new clothes my mother had prepared for me. In the mirror, I saw a flying self, and I smiled at myself.
My mother has prepared breakfast for me. It is 10 dumplings. Mother said, I ate 10 dumplings, I was 10 years old. Tangyuan is sesame filling, fragrant and sweet, I like most. After eating the soup, my mother asked me to call my grandparents. Later, my grandmother also took us to her garden, grandmother's garden is really big! Green vegetables everywhere, we cut a big basket of vegetables and found that there was a sneaky shepherd's purse in the vegetable plot, and my mother said it was the best dumpling. So we started looking for the shepherd's purse and got a bag full, and then we went home.

午休的时候，我正在津津有味的看书，有位老师走进教室说：“请报上英语班的同学去报告厅集合。”哎呀！我都快忘了英语选拔这件事儿了！我那小小的心脏顿时紧张得像岩浆漫延开来。我和几个同学一起来到了报告厅，只见两个老外在向我们招手哩！接着老外开始和我们挨个的用英语交流，看着前面同学有顺利过关的，我也跟着一起开心，而没有通过的同学垂头丧气，我莫名的心里直打鼓。
终于轮到我了，给我测试的外国老师是位黑人，很热情开朗，他用英语简单的和我对话交流，刚开始我因为有些小紧张，没听清老师说的英文意思，没想到老师竟然用中文告诉我，我马上流利的'回答，接下来我都能非常自然的和外国老师对话交谈，我发现淘汰赛其实并没有想像的那么恐怖呀！测试结束，在焦急的等待中，结果终于出来了！如我所愿，我真的被选上啦！我好兴奋哦！
这次英语选拔赛对我来说真是一件很有意义的事，妈妈常说，机会是给有准备的人，我觉得在这次选拔赛中真的用到了，以后我会更用心的学习英语！
