¡¡¡¡My first Job

¡¡¡¡Before I started at university,I took my first job as a waitress in a nice restaurant. At the night before my first day.I was too excited to go to sleep and as a result,I got up late in the morning.I threw on my clothes and rushed over to the restaurant.

¡¡¡¡In a great hurry,I didn't hear clearly the head waiter's instruction that we should go into the kitchen through one door and out from the other. So when I took two plates of eggs and bacon and an orange juice out to the restaurant,I went straight towards the wrong door and collided with another waiter coming in!

¡¡¡¡Worst of all was that I wore a pair of smart shoes but with high heels! A few hours later I was in agony yet had no time to change them. By the time we finished serving dinner at about 10:30 I was completely exhausted. Nevertheless, I learnt something through my experience.

¡¡¡¡It was a little far from my school to the family of my student. But the feeling of being a teacher and making money by myself conquered all difficulties, even the far way and tire. 20 RMB per hour was enough to me whose cost of living was only 400 RMB per month at that time. Every Friday afternoon and Sunday morning I went to teach by bike with songs in ears, green field in my eyes, soft wind on my face. What a happy time and a happy small boy! Hehe!It was nearly about June, before the high exam, I was unemployed. With a little sorrow and 600 yuan, I ended my first job. But the door of life would never be closed. With the closing of the old, a new one must be opened.

¡¡¡¡My first job was at a cramming school. It was three years ago when I just graduated from junior high school and finished the entrance examination. since I had nothing to do that summer, I decided to find a job, tasting the joy of independence.

¡¡¡¡I was responsible for answering the telephone and taking the message. I worked eight hours a day, six days a week. The work was not difficult nor heavy to me and I guess I did well. The most delighted thing was perhaps that I could spend the money I earned all by myself.

¡¡¡¡Deep Reading in Modern Life

¡¡¡¡At the picture depicts, a father told his son that he should read deeply rather than merely pursue the quantity of reading materials. It reflects that people tend to browse and scan e-books without stopping to ponder even one question. The way we read is so superficial that it arouses great concern in modern life.

¡¡¡¡To be a better reader, we had better do as follows. For one thing, take notes about crucial details as we used to do. Taking notes can avoid the phenomenon that the more we read online or on smart phones, the less we seemed to memorize. For another, classics deserve to be savored by the contemporary people. For example, some classical novels can be read free on Kindle, which makes them popular among youngsters again. What's more, if we did not make summaries from time to time, nothing that we learnt from e-books would truly be ours.

¡¡¡¡In conclusion, when we enjoy digital reading, we should consciously conducts deep reading. Try our best to keep those good habits which are acquired in the process of paper reading, such as intensive reading and deep thinking.

¡¡¡¡Can money buy happiness? Various people have various answers. Some people think that money is the source of happiness. With money, one can buy whatever he enjoys. With money, one can do whatever he likes. So, in their minds, money can bring comfort, security, and so on. Money, as they think, is the source of happiness.

¡¡¡¡But there are still a lot of others who think that money is the root of all evil. Money drives people to steal, to rob, and to break the law. A lot of people became criminals just because they were in search of money. And in the Western countries, there is nothing that can¡¯t be bought by money. Many people lose their own lives when hunting it.

¡¡¡¡I think that money is essential to life and we cannot do without money. But even though money is necessary to life, it can¡¯t buy happiness. Happiness is not something that can be measured by money. It is a state of mind. One can have plenty of money, with which he can buy whatever he wants, and at the same time he is not happy because he is never satisfied or he is troubled by various kinds of problems. Therefore, although money is necessary for a happy life, it can¡¯t buy happiness.

¡¡¡¡A recent investigation shows that about 80 percent of pupils have private tutors. Such a popular practice indicates that people are attaching greater importance to education. Many parents, for various reasons£¬missed the chance of obtaining a good education. When their children meet with difficulties in study, they are helpless. Private tutoring is the only solution. As private tutoring is usually one-to-one, the teacher knows the strong points as we11 as the weak points of the pupil, clearly.

¡¡¡¡However, private tutoring has its own disadvantages; for one thing, it takes up so much of the pupils¡¯ time that they can hardly find enough time for rest and entertainment, which are essential for their physical and mental health. For another, some teachers, busy ¡°shuttling¡± from one family to another, tend to neglect their regular teaching duties. What¡¯s more, some teachers are eager to help pupils do well in the test, offering the so-ca11ed tips for test£taking rather than help them acquire what is more meaningful.

¡¡¡¡Generally speaking, its disadvantages outweigh its advantages. Greater emphasis should be laid on classroom teaching and practice, on the improvement of teaching quality and on the tapping of the pupils¡¯ potentials. Only in this way can we generation be healthily brought up.1/2 12ÏÂһҳβҳ

¡¡¡¡Health and Wealth, Which Do You Prefer?

¡¡¡¡"Health is wealth!". This is an old saying which the majority applaud. As a rule, the wealthier you are, the weaker is your health, but this cannot be applied to all.

¡¡¡¡To begin with, a person that has health can afford to challenge all hardships. For example, manual workers are usually stout and energetic. With their energy, they earn their living. Although such an occupation brings little reward as compared with the energy they have exerted, they enjoy life

¡¡¡¡whatever things may be.

¡¡¡¡Moreover, business is based on health. Students in good health can absorb knowledge more readily. In good health, scientists can tackle complex technical problems and achieve more success.

¡¡¡¡Frequently we find millionaires cling close to their doctors for they seldom have enough exercises to bring forth better health. Their lack of exercises slackens the readiness of growth of the antibodies to resist the attack of diseases.

¡¡¡¡So, my argue is that health is more important than wealth for if we do not have health, what can we benefit from wealth?

¡¡¡¡The use of translation apps is becoming increasingly popular. Why? Admittedly, in the contemporay society, an increasing number of people, with the help of translation apps, find it convenient to read foreign literature or essays.

¡¡¡¡On the one hand, these apps can bring users greater efficiency and help them save more time or energy, particularly for those who have no knowledge of a foreign language. For instance, a host of people may have a variety of difficulties or troubles in learning English, but with the assistance of these apps, it will not be difficult for them to read and understand English materials. On the other hand, it is these apps that cuase some learners to lose motivation for studying. With Apps in hand, they are not willing to do their utmost to memorize new words, pratice speaking or writing skills every day. Fianlly, they will fail to get a good command of any foreign language.

¡¡¡¡I, as a college student, deem that it is of great necessity for youngsters to use translations apps in a rational way. We should bear in mind that any translation app is merely a tool. Provided that one intends to master a foreign language, it is advisabel to practice each day instead of relying on translation apps.

¡¡¡¡It seems that everyone in the world aspires to achieve something so as to live life to the fullest. There are vast majority of tasks that we have to finish in order to succeed, so making plans is the only way that we could possibly achieve our goals. Thus, it is of great importance that doing some planning before we start.

¡¡¡¡The time when one is working or studying is the most valuable, so ow to effectively utilize it decides whether we could achieve our academic pursuit or career advancement. Take preparing final e_am for e_ample, after a long period of study, physical and metal fatigue would unavoidably ensue. However, if we could set out a timetable and stick with the plan, then we could accomplish more things than we thought because we have a time limit on each part, which brings a pressure to us and pushes us to absorb knowledge or do e_ercises more quickly. Not only preparing e_ams but also other tasks, making plans could motivate us to be more effective.

¡¡¡¡In conclusion, working out a plan is the best way for us to utilize our restricted energy and time.

¡¡¡¡The Mechanic is one of my favorite movies, in which the protagonist has a very beautiful gun with a famous motto engraved on it-- Victory Loves Preparation. Indeed, increasing undergraduates has realized the importance of preparation which even renders tense peer pressure. While, how to prepare for tomorrow? The best way is to do your best today.

¡¡¡¡How to do our best? First, try to know yourself. In your free time, you can attend some club activities, social practice, and part-time work to understand what you like and what you want to do in the future. Second, make a dream, and set a goal. Everyone has a dream, but each of us must analyze its feasibility and make it a real and effective goal. Last, make a plan and keep moving. After know what your goals will require, plan to do them one by one. You can devote yourself to your professional field, concentrate on research, and accumulate academic knowledge. Or you can practice in a part-time job that is conducive to your career plan, which could build a perfect resume and improve the work e_perience. Or you can participate in some qualification e_ams to enhance your competitiveness, such as computer language, accounting certificate, teacher qualification certificate, IELTS, and TOEFL.

¡¡¡¡In a word, when you are at a young age, try to do something more, as long as you are not in vain, all your efforts will become your best assets in the future.

¡¡¡¡Nowadays, it is not rare to see people displaying their wealth on the Internet. Some post pictures of luxury goods, such as brand clothes and bags, luxurious automobiles or jewelries. Some write about their experiences in which a lot of money is spent.

¡¡¡¡People have different responses to this phenomenon. Some say that it is peoples right to share their possessions or experiences with others on the Internet, as long as the things are legal and the experiences real. However, some criticize that the rich people are too arrogant. Whats worse, there are also a few who are not actually rich but put fake photos only to satisfy their vanity.

¡¡¡¡In my opinion, sharing is a good thing, and it is exactly the spirit of the Internet. But people should make careful choice on what they are sharing. After all, showing off is not very nice, not to mention faking.

¡¡¡¡Directions:

¡¡¡¡Study the following picture carefully and write a nessay in which you should

¡¡¡¡1) describe the picture,

¡¡¡¡2) interpret its meaning, and

¡¡¡¡3) point out its implications in our life.

¡¡¡¡This simple picture represents a situation that every person must face: when approaching a junction, which direction should one choose?

¡¡¡¡Most viewers can empathize with the sense of hesitation and uncertainty embodied in such an image. Without exception, everyone has to make choices in life, whether they concern school, career, or love. While some choices are simple, one cannot avoid the task of making difficult decisions.

¡¡¡¡Choices are often directly related to ones happiness. University students, for example, face a hard and crucial decision upon graduating. Many students have difficulty deciding whether to continue studying or begin developing a career. Every individual is different, and one must take the factors of ones personal life into consideration. In addition to an awareness of specific circumstances, however, making the right choice also depends on correct appraisal of oneself.

¡¡¡¡In order to choose correctly, therefore, one must be both realistic and self aware.Furthermore, once having made a decision, one should seriously accept and pursue the path one has chosen, and strive towards the realization of ones goal with spirit.

¡¡¡¡For thousands of years, people have accepted challenges in different fields. There are not only physical challenges, but also social and intellectual(´ÏÃ÷µÄ) challenges. Some people risk(ð¡ÏÕ) their lives in playing sports to see how well they can do. Others try to make and invent(·¢Ã÷) something to make life easier. They all enjoy challenges.

¡¡¡¡Why do people enjoy these challenges? There are probably many reasons. One is curiosity. The other is the personal feeling of success, of achievement, and nowadays, for some people, it is a business.

¡¡¡¡Today, we still have many challengers before us. Medical science faces the challenges of conquering many diseases which still attack human beings. Engineers and planners must build new cities, design and produce new kinds of transportation. Scientists must develop new forms of energy. In short, we live in an age of challenges.

¡¡¡¡µÚÒ»·Ý¹¤×÷µÄËļ¶Ó¢Óï×÷ÎÄ Æª14

¡¡¡¡Good transportation is veryimportant to the success of both individuals and a city. Without efficientmeans of transportation£¬people will waste a great dealof time going to and from work. This will make them tired and less productivein their jobs. People may rely on either private or public transportation toget them to and from work. If a choice has to be made between spending money onimproving the roads for private vehicles or improving public transportation£¬I would choose the latter for the following reasons.

¡¡¡¡First of all£¬better public transportation systems£¬including buses£¬trains and subways£¬will encourage more people touse them rather than drive their own cars. This will reduce the total amount oftraffic on the roads and make travel quicker for everyone. Second£¬using public transportation saves energy.

¡¡¡¡At present, a wide ofcredit cards issued by major banks and shopping malls are thriving in collegesand universities across the nation, with a multitude of college students makingup a growing population of card holders. Indeed, one out of five students isestimated to be in possession of at least one credit card, and the figure isexpected to be on the steady , thelatest data published by Yangtze Evening Post suggests.

¡¡¡¡Like anything prior tothe emergence of this small piece of plastic, the increasing popularity ofcredit card on campus has both bright and dark sides. On the one hand, youngadults in college, free from the trouble of pocketing a considerable sum ofcash, could enjoy the convenience of credit cards and purchase expensive goodsby installments. On the other hand, however, the irresponsible and excessiveuse of the cards by these youngsters, the majority of whom are fresh out ofmiddle school incapable of budgeting their money, can make them heavily in debtwhich will take them years to pay off.

¡¡¡¡On my personal level, while enjoying a host of conveniences the credit card may bring, we couldn'tafford to ignore a fact: in most cases, parents are our sole financial sources.Instead of spending without anyrestrict, we are supposed to put studies on the top of our agenda and moveourselves beyond heavy dependence upon our parents.

¡¡¡¡When looking for a job, you will most likely have a job interview first. This seems to be in fashion now. Through the interview the interviewer and the interviewee can talk face to face, which provides a way for them to know each other better.

¡¡¡¡On the one hand, the interviewer can introduce the main aspects of the job opening to the interviewee, such as the specific requirements for the job, the working conditions, and the wages and benefits the interviewee will get.

¡¡¡¡On the other hand, the interviewee also has a chance to give the employer a good impression. He can talk with confidence and show the interviewer how well he is educated and how good his working ability is. And it will be better if he emphasizes that this is the very job he wants and he3 won¡¯t cast an eye on any other jobs. The interviewer will most probably be moved.

¡¡¡¡Through the job interview, people who look for a job will have a better chance of getting a good one and those who need people to do a job will have a better chance of finding someone that is qualified.

¡¡¡¡The two-day weekend has brought a lot of benefits to college students. It not only offers us more time to get rid of tiredness and have a good rest, but also gives us more chances to take up some hobbies, such as fishing, reading, or gardening. From these activities we can learn many things outside the classroom, which will add to our knowledge.

¡¡¡¡Despite the convenience it brings us, the two-day weekend has also given rise to quite a few problems. The most serious one is that the weekdays are filled with more lesson, sometimes too many. Because our classes are limited to Monday through Friday, we have to take more lessons each day than in the past. This leaves us little time to catch our breath during the weekdays.

¡¡¡¡In order to benefit most from the two-day weekend, I have decided to make a good plan for the two-day weekend. Of course I should take this chance to relax. But during the weekend, I will still set aside enough time to study. By doing so ii can have a good time as well as make progress in my studies.

¡¡¡¡Social practice is a bridge between their theory and reality. So, in recent years, more and more college students choose to take part-time jobs in or outside school.

¡¡¡¡In the social practice, students are sure to learn more than their textbooks. Their participation in social practice might strengthen their sense of social responsibility. Their close contact with the working people might help them to apply their knowledge to the solution to the practical problem. But many teachers complain that there are fewer and fewer students who pay attention to their study.

¡¡¡¡In my view, it¡¯s an undenied fact that students break the balance between their jobs and studies, especially when they fall into conflict. But I think students should spend their spare time taking part-time jobs. Timely participation in social practice will benefit them all through their life.

¡¡¡¡Physicalexercise is a necessary part of college life. However, still some collegestudents do not like to attend sports activities. They think those activities waste their timeand influence their study. Indeed, it is very unwise for college students tokeep distance form physical exercise.

¡¡¡¡Physicalexercise is very beneficial to college students. First of all, attending sportsactivities can help college students build a strong body and keep abundantenergy. Moreover, physical exercise is an effective way to release pressure andkeep a pleasant mood. Besides, by attending physical activities, students can havechances to contract and communicate with others, which can help them improvetheir social skills.

¡¡¡¡Nowadays colleges and universities provide many sports facilities for students to do physicalexercise. Students can choose freely according to their interests and needs. Asfor me, I am keen on all kinds of ball games, especially football andbasketball. From these games, I have gained great pleasure and made manyfriends. To conclude, every college student should not hesitate to attendsports activities.

¡¡¡¡Rush for Postgraduate Study

¡¡¡¡According to the table, it is clear that there is sharp increase in number of postgraduate candidates in x Province from 2000 to 2008. In 2000, there were only 1600 candidates participating in the exam. However, 2 years later, the number increased to 5600, and by 2008 it has reached 52000.

¡¡¡¡There are many reasons accounting for the great change. Firstly, the tough competition in jthe job market is an important one. The enrollment expansion of universities places a great pressure on the job market, which stimulates many students to turn to further education. Secondly, many students with equivalent education background to college graduates are allowed to apply for postgraduate study. Finally, the society has a greater demand for the postgraduates with the economic development.

¡¡¡¡As far as I am concerned, college students should take full account before deciding to fruther their education. For one thing, postgraduate study does not necessarily ensure us a bright future. For another, its a tough process to prepare for the exam for postgraduate study and not everyone can stick it out.

¡¡¡¡Blood

¡¡¡¡What is blood? It is the red liquid which comes out of your finger when you cut it because of not being careful. There are about 13 pints (Æ·ÍÑ) of blood in a man£§s body. He can give a pfnt of blood at a time to a blood bank for the use o other man who may need it. A healthy body makes up the pint of blood quickly.

¡¡¡¡What does our blood do for us? It takes food to all parts of our bodies and takes waste away from them. All the parts of our bodies are made up of cells, these cells, which are very small, all need food all the time. The blood is like a stream. The cells take what they need out of the blood stream, as plants and fishes take their food out of water. The blood stream carries food and the oxygen which it has taken up in our lungs to all the cells in the body.

¡¡¡¡What makes the blood go on moving round the body in a stream? The heart sends it round. The heart keeps a stream of blood going all around the body and back again to itself. Everywhere the blood stream does two things: supplies the cells with food and oxygen and takes away waste. It is as if the blood kept the little fires in cells burning and took away the ashes.

¡¡¡¡Gambling

¡¡¡¡Gambling is actually playing games of chance, such as cards, for money. People regard gambling as wrong, although at first sight it is difficult to show it is wrong. It is true that in a game of chance, one of the parties must Jose money, however, the gain of the other cannot be called robbery since both parties willingly agree to run the risk.

¡¡¡¡Perhaps a comparison of gambling with dueling will help us see why gambling is evil. In a duel, as in a game of chance, both parties willingly agree to run a risk. But in civilized coun tries, duelinglis a crime because law and order in the state wil break down if every citizen can take the law into his own hands and avenge an injury himself. Gambling is condemned for the sane reason: the effect of gambling is injurious not only to the individual but also to society.

¡¡¡¡The evils of gambling are in fact many. It discourages habits of industry by holding out before men the hope of getting rich quickly without work. Besides this, it often be comes a habit which can throw a man and his family into misery. Moreover, it often ends up in theft and robbery, even in crimes of violence. Therefore, it must be regarded as a social evil.
